“BLOC AT TOP”
Rugby Union criticised (N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE. The administration of the New Zealand Rugby Union, and particularly the composition of the council executive. was severely criticised at the annual meeting of the Poverty Bay union. A vice-president, Mr A. G. McHugh, said that it was time the composition of the executive was changed. “We have created a very powerful bloc at the head of the Rugby football, whose ideas have tended to become stereotyped.” He described annual meetings of the N.Z.R.U. as “just a farce.” The chairman, Mr J. G. Baddeley, said that he was surprised many unions had not spoken up at their meetings. “It seems they do not want to rock the boat,” he added. Athletics. —Forty-one girls and 33 boys ranging in ages from eight to 14 will represent Canterbury this week-end in the annual’ athletics tournament against Nelson and Blenheim. The venue this year is in Mari-, borough. ■'
