GOLFERS’ EARNINGS
Dunk heads winnings The New Zealand open champion and winner of the Caltex tournament, E. W. Dunk (Australia), was the leading prize-winner on the national golf circuit. He won $7758.50 in the two months of competition. Another Australian, J. Newton, one of the most exciting young players on the circuit, earned $7450, and the Australian master, K. D. G. Nagle, won $5857.86. The New Zealand pair, J. M. Lister and R. J. Charles, were the only other two golfers to surpass $4OOO. Lister won $4818.50 and Charles $4013.50 —. a far cry from his record earnings of more than $lO,OOO last season. MORE THAN $3OOO Five other professionals made more than $3000: M. Bembridge (Great Brtain), $3831.87: S. P. Ginn (Australia), $3464.51; W. J. Godfrey (New Zealand), $3245.32; T. C. Kendall (New Zealand), $3245.01: and the American, J. Miller, whose win in the Otago Charity Classic was worth $3OOO. Of the resident New Zealand players, D. Clark, the consistent Hokowhitu professional, earned $2474.83, and J. E. Carter won $2031.66, mainly from his fine performance at Mount Maunganui.
