City parking
Sir, —As a permanent oc-j cupier of the Christchurch j City Council’s Lichfield Street car park for over; three years. I note that from' March 31 all permanent park-; ers in all three Christchurch! City Council car parks will! be "discontinued. If businesses; think they are losing customers through the parking building being occupied by permanent parkers (the only major peak time is Christmas and school holidays), thev must annreciate that the expulsion of permanent parkers will not increase their profit. The Christchurch Citv Council should be well pleased that they are receiving a steady and substantial revenue from these permanent parkers. I find it difficult to understand that the Labour Council can throw away such a large amount of! ; revenue to the detriment of [city ratepayers. Could the council please advise where the approximate 460 permanent car parkers will now park?—Yours, etc.,
PERMANENT PARKER January 10, 1973.
