$39,000 hospital board survey

WELLINGTON, January 10. A $39,000 survey of the administration of the Wellington Hospital Board approved by Cabinet possibly will have ramifications for all hospital boards in New Zealand.
The Minister of Health (Mr Tizard) said this evening that the inquiry might lead to surveys of other boards, or perhaps the Wellington findings could be applied in other districts. The survey will take six months, and Cabinet approval will be needed for any further work. Mr Tizard said the firm of P.A. Management Consultants which would make the survey would not look into the services provided in Wellington — only into the administration of the board. "The survey arises from the verv successful survey by P.A. Management Consui-
itants at Sydney Hospital.” ' said Mr Tizard. i “The results were said toi Ibe spectacularly successful, and Health Department staff and the matron of Willing- i ‘ ton Hospital have expressed ' satisfaction, on return from: Sydney, with the results ob- j I tained there. “One of the conditions of 'the survey is that one of the II two men chiefly involved at : Sydney must come to New! Zealand for this survey. I “Indeed, it was because : • I we know these men are avail-' able that we have a specified i‘a firm to do the job without ■putting it out to tender in the I ■i usual way.”
