TWO BIG WINS

Billiards title (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. “It’s the trickiest table I have played on,” said the world professional champion, L. Driffield, of Yorkshire, before the start of his final session of play against a fellow Englishman, J. Kamhem, in the Rothmans world open billiards championship at Pukekohe last evening. Then, to belie his complaint, Driffield proceeded to demolish Kamhem, eventually to beat him 1614-619. In his seven scoring trips to the table at one stage Driffield made five century breaks, including a best of 223.

The Indian amateur champion, Satish Mohan, was even more commanding, outplaying E. Charlton (Australia), 2256-587. Mohan scored brilliantly, including the highest break so far of 305, and another of 202. In a third match, K. Kennerley (England) beat C. MeConachy (New Zealand), 888718.
