‘Crash victims robbed’
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright/ MELBOURNE, Dec. 7. Two men in a utility vehicle equipped with radio monitoring equipment are thought to have robbed the victims of a road accident near Diggers’ Rest, about 20 miles north-west of Melbourne.
Mr Jack Sharpies, of Coburg, said that his son, Kenneth James Sharpies, aged 19, was robbed with a friend as they lay dead or dying. “They took Ken’s wallet containing a considerable amount of money, his driving licence, and his Customs officer’s identification pass,” Mr Sharpies said. He added that his son’s friend, John Cassidy, aged 22, of Fawkner, who was driving, was also robbed of his wallet containing a large sum of money, his identification pass and his wrist watch.
A man injured in the second vehicle involved in the accident saw the utility vehicle pull up, “and two men get out, and act suspiciously.”
