Marine surveying group formed

An Institute of Nautical Surveyors has been formed in New Zealand, with the aim of improving the standard and status of marine surveying. The institute also wants to provide a focal point for queries from the public, and marine surveyors, on any subject of a nautical nature. Its members are all master mariners, and drawn from marine surveyors in Government and private practice. The Lyttelton representative is Captain J. A. Wood. Other officers of the organisation, which is based in Auckland, are: President, Captain P. M. Kershaw; sec-retary-treasurer, Captain R. B. James; committee; Captains J. Forbes, G. A. Pallet, J. G. Spilman, F. A. Stolberger; South Island representatives, Captain Wood and Captain J. G. McGowan (Dunedin).
