L, Amiss shared a superb 180run opening partnership for the M.C.C. on the second day of its match against the Indian Cricket Board President’s XI yesterday. Their lively batting helped the M.C.C. reach 196 for three at the close in reply to the home team’s first inning’s total of 317 for five declared. Both looked like opening the tour with a century until they fell within two runs of each other. Denness was legbefore for 95 and Amiss.was caught at 81. The President’s XI claimed a third victim just before the close when G. R. Roope was dismissed by Prasanna for seven, with the total at 196. Earlier, the President’s XI had added 80 runs to its overnight score of 237 for four before declaring at lunch. Ashock Mankad was 60 not out after a painstaking innings.
Cricket.— The England batsman, G. Boycott, has been reappointed captain of Yorkshire for next season.
