Industrials firm, miners mixed in Australia

Industrial issues showed strong rises in brisk trading on Australian exchanges yesterday. Mining stocks were mixed, falls outnumbering rises, but gains, where recorded, were usually greater than the falls. In Sydney Bundaberg Sugar was frontrunner with a 50c rise at 580 c, a performance which led it to be queried by the exchange. C.S.R. rose 2c to 584 c in Melbourne. The Bank of N.S.W. rose 10c to 1000 c and C.B.C. and National followed suit with 5c rises each. B.H.P. remained steady at 1125 c, Lend Lease jumped 30c' at 570 c and Hooker gained 8c at 230 c.
