Wai-Aniwa too tall

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY. The crew of the New Zealand yacht Wai-Aniwa have been forced to make several adjustments to their craft so it can compete in the first race in the world One-ton Cup, off Sydney heads tomorrow. The official measurer (Mr M. Davey) ordered that seven-eighths of an inch be cut off the yacht's mast, so that it would comply with measurements for the cup, and that the same length be cut off each of the yacht’s spinnaker poles, and about five inches cut off the spinnakers. Wai-Aniwa’s skipper, C. Bouzaid, criticised the ruling and said the yacht had measured satisfactorily in New Zealand. But Wai-Aniwa has been altered according to the specifications.
