No betting at golf

(N.Z.P. A. -Reuter— Copyright) LONDON. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club and the British P.G.A. have ruled out oncourse betting at British golf tournaments. The two controlling bodies of the sport made the decision after experimenting with marquees at the course during the John Player tournament at Tumberry in September. The R. and A. secretary, Mr K. McKenzie, said that there was no question of concern about the integrity of the players. “Our feeling was that much of the betting that took place at Tumberry was on the horses."
