Prosecution proceeds
W.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 6. Alleged offences already in the hands of the police concerning breaches of the Military Service Act would be proceeded with, the Magistrate’s Court in Lower Hutt was told yesterday. Appearing before Mr J. K. Patterson, S.M., was Wayne Rodney Upjohn, aged 22, a chauffeur, who last week pleaded guilty to failing to attend Linton Military Camp when called upon. Upjohn was convicted and fined $lO. Senior-Sergeant B. J. Courtney said he understood that the view of the Army and the Department of Labour was that where a conviction was being processed, it should be proceeded with until the act was repealed or amended.
