New man in ' urban plan (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright l WASHINGTON, Dec. 6. President Nixon today named the Under-Secretary of State for Commerce (Mr James Lynn) to be Secretary of State for Housing and Urban Development, and announced that Mr Rogers Morton would remain as Secretary of the Interior in his second-term Cabinet. As Mr Nixon continued his Cabinet shuffle, it was learned that the Secretary of I State for Commerce (Mr Peter Peterson) would leave his post next month to lead a new Government council in charge of all the nation’s international economic policies. Mr Lynn, who is 45, succeeds Mr George Romney, ;who announced last week that he was leaving the Cabinet to form a citizens' action organisation. The White House press secretary, Mr Ronald Ziegler, said today: "Mr Nixon is confident that, with Mr Lynn at the helm, the urban crisis can be turned into urban opportunity, and he expects the next four years to bring the same kind of progress in domestic affairs as he has made in foreign affairs.”.
