RACE NOT ON TV

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. The New Zealand Grand Prix on January 6 will not be telecast direct. Negotiations between the race organisers and the N.Z.B.C. have broken down about a disagreement over the fee. The grand prix manager, Mr E. Mallard, said yesterday: “We came down a bit on our demand, and the N.Z.B.C. went up a bit on its offe.', but the gap was too wide to negotiate any further. We agreed to disagree.” Last year, the N.Z.B.C. paid $l5OO for the telecast rights. Mr Mallard refused to disclose either of this year’s offers.

The grand prix in January has attracted the top resident New Zealand driver, five leading Australians, the United States Formula 5000 champion (G. Mcßae) and the runner-up (S. Posey), and British and Japanese drivers.
