CRICKET MOVE
Slow rate of overs (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. English county cricket looks set to make a determined effort to eliminate one of the curses of the modem game — the slow rate of overs bowled. The test and county cricket board, which will meet this week, will discuss the question of sanctions against county teams who regularly fall below “a reasonable over rate.” Some administrators are understood to favour financial penalties against persistent offenders. The average over rate in county cricket last season was down to 18.02 an hour, compared to 18.83 in 1967.
