The Commonwealth Games Appeal fund was yesterday increased by $4800, the proceeds of a national raffle organised by a member of the Christchurch Lions Club, Mr R. P. Silk. The prize, a holiday in Christchurch and the opportunity to play with R. J. Charles in “The Press” Pro-Am golf tournament, was won by a hostess on the Southerner train. The photograph shows Mr Silk (left) handing the cheque to the chairman of the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (Mr R. S. Scott). In the centre is Mr D. M. Thompson, president of the Lions Club.
