Policeman gets law degree

Inspector P. V. Coster, of the Christchurch police, completed his bachelor of laws degree at the University of Canterbury this year by passing seven papers. He had been engaged in full-time studies this year. Inspector Coster, who is 33, joined the police in 1958, and began university studies 10 years later. He is one of about six policemen in New Zealand with a law degree. Another member of the police in Christchurch with a law degree resigned recently to enter private practice as a solicitor.
