Australian record
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MELBOURNE. The Victorian T.A.B. set an Australian record on the Melbourne Cup meeting at Flemington yesterday. The total turnover for the eight-race meeting was $3,657,828, the biggest in the Victorian T.A.B.’s 12year history. "This is more money than has ever been taken in one day by any Australian T.AJ3. operating on the one meeting,” a T.A.B. spokesman said. More than $1.75m alone was invested in win and place betting on the Melbourne Cup.
