THAIS FIGHT MOSLEMS
(fI.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) BANGKOK, November 6. Separatist Moslem guerrillas in southern Thailand have killed 272 village chiefs, policemen and villagers during the last two years, according to police figures. Government forces in the same period killed 123 Moslem guerrillas and 101 armed Moslems surrendered.
The Moslems, officially described as bandits, number about 700 and call themselves the “National Liberation Army of the Pattani Republic.” They are seeking the secession of the Moslempopulated provinces of Yala, Pattani, Uatun and Narathiwat from the rest of Thailand.
According to provincial officials, they get aid from Malay extremists in the west Malaysian state of Kelantan.
