Farmhouse Toast
Farmhouse toast has an intriguing, fresh taste combining the flavours of bacon, cheese and apple. You need:— Grated cheese Cream Thinly sliced apple Melted butter Pieces rindless bacon Salt Pepper Cayenne Method: Mix grated cheese with sufficient cream to make a smooth paste. Season well with salt, pepper and cayenne or mustard Spread on squares of bread toasted on underneath side only. Cover cheese with very thinly sliced raw apple, brush apple with melted butter and place under grill until apples are soft. Top with piece of bacon which has been grilled separately alongside.
