LIMITS ON PROTEST
Question by W.A.R.D. (N.Z. Press Association I HASTINGS, Nov. 6 A call for all parties in the General Election to spell out their definitions of the limit# of the right to protest has been made by W.A.R.D. (War Against Recreational Disruption). The organisation’s chairman (Mr R. Fenton) said; “Present legislation is lamentably vague in its protection of citizens’ rights and remedies against the antisocial elements in our society.” The criminal code must provide the serverest deterrent penalties for those who in any way remove the civil rights and freedoms of oth« ers. “The country is in greater peril than most want to realise and the filching of freedom faces everyone unless under-pinning of our democracy is shored up by resolute government,” said Mr Fenton.
