CANTERBURY SEED CO.
New manager appointed Consequent on the impending retirement of Mr J. H. Hewlett and Mr L. K. Jones, general managers respectively of The Canterbury (N.Z.) Malting Company, Ltd and The Canterbury (N.Z.) Seed Company, Ltd, Mr L. D. Cotterill, their chairman, has announced the appointment of Mr H. P. Kearney as general manager in charge of operations of both companies. The appointment will be effective from April 1, next year. Upon graduation from Canterbury University College, Mr Hewlett joined Canterbury Seed and was appointed general manager of its subsidiary, Canterbury (N.Z.) Malting in 1947. With the exception of a brief period, Mr Jones has been with the Seed company all his working life. Upon leaving school in 1941, Mr Kearney joined the Seed company and is now its assistant general manager.
W.F.T.C. sell stock
The Farmers’ Trading Company (Hamilton), Ltd, has successfully bid for the stock, other than grocery and hardware, of Waikato Farmers Traders Society, Ltd, which ceased trading a week ago. The Farmers’ Trading Company’s advertising manager (Mr W. H. Barrow) said the consideration would be between $250,000 and $500,000.
