President Nixon matcapture 48 of the 50 American states in tomorrow’s voting, and may even take all 50 for the greatest Presidential election victory in history the “New York Times” forecasts. State polls show the Democratic candidate. Senator George McGovern, leading by 10 percentage points in Massachusetts — one of the states the newspaper conceded to him — and gaining in Michigan. The “New York Times.” reporting a final national survey by its correspondents, gives Senator McGovern a solid lead in the district of Columbia, and says that the outcome is in doubt only in Massachusetts and Wisconsin. The two states, and the District of Columbia, have 28 of the 538 electoral votes. The “Boston Globe,” in a copyright article today, shows Senator McGovern leading Mr Nixon by 49 percentage points to 39 in Massachusetts. The “New York Times.” which has endorsed Senator McGovern, predicts that Mr Nixon will receive 60 per cent of the popular vote, and Senator McGovern, 25 per cent.
