New appliance for Lincoln
The Lincoln Fire Brigade took delivery yesterday of its new $23,000 fire engine. Finance for the appliance came from a loan from the Ellesmere County Council and is being repaid by the New Zealand Fire Services Council. Mr G. M. Fitzgibbon, the brigade’s chief fire officer, said that the appliance would be commissioned tomorrow. It replaces one borrowed from Lincoln College. Built by Wormaid Bros, in Porirua, the appliance carries 300 gallons of water — 'sufficient for up to 30 'minutes—and is designed to operate in areas where there is no high pressure water.
