Permit for hotel
Sir,—On the same day your paper reported that, “A building permit for the new hotel will not be issued unless the by-law requirements are compiled with” I read that the new Ramada Inn will have the first floor “cantilevered out 15ft across the footpath and be a first floor restaurant terrace.” Surely these statements conflict? Will Mr Pickering re-consider his answer
to the Auckland inquirer?— Yours, etc., INTERESTED PARTY. October 27, 1972. [The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) replies: “The building is set back at ground floor and the first floor extends across the footpath only to the limit permitted for verandahs. The ‘terrace’ of the Ramada Inn will not encroach beyond the building line.”]
