County poll
Mr M. D. A. Radcliffe was successful in an election for one of the Port Victoria riding seats of the Mount Herbert County Council on Saturday, defeating the other candidate, Mr H. M. A. van Venrooy by 238 votes to 140 on the provisional count. About 30 special votes to be counted cannot affect the result. Mr Radcliffe, a former councillor and brother of the county chairman (Mr E. R. Radcliffe), was defeated in last year’s elections and now fills a vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr H. E. J. Doudney.
