Women’s games
The New Zealand representative, J. Stead, who scored 81 not out for St Albans in Its first innings of 144 for one declared, provided the feature of the first day of play in the second round of matches in the senior women's cricket competition on Saturday.
S. Rattray gave Stead good support and scored 39 not out. Mia Moa had reached 48 for the loss of three wickets at stumps. The other senior game was almost completed in the one day. First Hagley had no answer to the bowling of Western’s J. Olson and was out for 45 and 26, with Olson taking four wickets for 20 and six for 9. Western declared its first innings closed at 55 for three wickets—lo ahead of Hagley. but having to make only 17 runs in its second innings for outright victory. Western was struggling at the close of play at 14 for five. It will have to return to the wicket next week in an en. deavour to make the additional three runs. P. Reynolds, with three for three, was the best Hagley bowler, although Western helped in its own second Innings downfall by reversing its batting order. Results were:—•
