Repairs at Auckland
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Nov. 5. The 9010-ton British freighter Wenchow is expected to reach Auckland on November 15 under tow, after an engine breakdown about 100 miles north of Noumea. Hopes of repairing the ship at sea have apparently been abandoned, and her owners’ New Zealand representatives said today that repairs would be carried out at Auckland. The Wenchow has a crew of 40 and is commanded by Captain M. Kelly, of Tauranga. She has about 6000 tons of cargo on board for discharge at Auckland and Lyttelton. She broke down on Monday.
