(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) _ MELBOURNE. The Sydney professional, D, Welch, shot a five-under-par 87 and led the first round of tho Dunlop International golf tournament at Yarra Yarra yesterday. Welch, who covered the last nine boles in 31, was one stroke ahead of D. Graham, who lost the Australian open championship to P. W. Thomson in a play-off In Adelaide last Monday. The tournament favourite, G. Player (South Africa), was on #9 with the lltUe Thai, Sukroe Onsham, and the Australian World Cup player, W. Dunk. T. Kendall, with 72, lad tho New Zealand challenge; S. Owen was on 79.
