Memorial Ave sections sold

The Lands and Survey Department yesterday disposed of 10 residential sections in Memorial Avenue at an average price of $8055. All but one of 11 sections in the block alongside Bumside High School were sold by ballot to the 13 applicants. Lot 8, which adjoins a proposed accessway, was not sold although the price tag of $7900 was one of the lowest. The whole sale realised $80,550. The Assistant Commissioner of Crown Lands (Mr F. C. McMullan) said that Lot 8 would be sold to the first person who applied for it. If more than one person applied on the same day, there would be a ballot.

The sale of the land was subject to conditions that the new owners build architecturally designed houses for their own use.
