Safe blown, burglaries
The office of Scott Commercial, Ltd, 38 Kingsley Street, Sydenham, was entered on Thursday night and money and cheques valued at about $lOO stolen. Entry was gained by forcing a window in the front office. An undisclosed sum of money was stolen from a safe after it was blown open with explosives at the Neate Furniture Company, Ltd, Tuam Street, also on Thursday night. And a house in York Street, Waltham, was entered on Thursday night and a television set and sewing machine, worth more than $lOO, taken. A cassette tape recorder, a radio and spirits to the total value of $372 were stolen from a house in Office Road, Merivale, about a week ago. The theft has just been reported to the police as the occupants were away. It is not known how entry was gained.
