Vulcan at airport

A Royal Air Force Vulcan bomber landed at Christchurch Airport yesterday afternoon on a 25,000-mile around-the-world flight from its base at Waddington, Lincoln. The Vulcan flew to Christchurch from the R.N.Z.A.F. base, Ohakea, and will leave Christchurch tomorrow on its way home, through Australia and Singapore.

The bomber from the R.A.F. Strike Command, and its seven-man crew, arrived in New Zealand on October 30, to take part in an exercise with the R.N.Z.A.F. and the Royal New Zealand Navy. The station commander at Waddington (Group Captain D. Hall) is in command of the Vulcan. Another Vulcan of Strike Command visited Christchurch earlier this year.
