HERITAGE REPORT
86 families on roll There were 86 families, with 174 children, on the 1972 roll of Heritage (Canterbury), according to the annual report of the chairman. The executive made a financial loss of 52386 for the year ended September 30, and subscriptions and life memberships had once again been reduced, the report says. However, donations were still high, and of the total $2948 in direct grants made by the executive, more than $l9OO would be refunded by the Patriotic Board Fund, says the report Heritage was formed to give advice, guidance, and financial help where necessary to the families of men who died as a result of war service, or who suffered a severe disability because of the war, thus making it impossible for them to support their families without assistance.
Mothers are given assistance concerning matters of pensions, social security, or legal advice; and for children there is payment of music and swimming lessons, the arrangement of driving lessons, clothing grants, and twenty-first birthday presents.
