University buildings
The fate of the town-site buildings of the University of Canterbury once the university transfers to Ham in 1974 will be the subject of a meeting to be held later this month.
The meeting will be held between the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Canterbury (Professor N. C. Phillips) and the New Zealand Historic Places Trust, during the trust’s first meeting in the South Island on November 16 and 17.
The trust, it is understood, is beginning a new policy of holding meetings away from jWellington in an endeavour to see at first hand buildings lin which it has a particular interest.
On November 18, the trust will visit Orari Gorge station to view restoration work on buildings there.
