Easier trading on N.Z. sharemarket
Trading- was a little more active on a slightly easier New Zealand sharemarket yesterday. Falls outnumbered rises three to two, with some moderately large movements.
U.E.8., which reported lower results for the first six months of its financial year, but an improved outlook, gained 2c at 108 c in Christchurch and Wellington, but was steadj' at 106 c in Auckland.
Dalgety N.Z. firmed 1c but NMA - Wright Stephenson eased 1c and Mair dropped 20c to 285 c after a threeweek trading gap. Arthur Yates, Consolidated Brick, Crothall, Group Rentals. and Progressive were down sc, while Schofield lost 10c at 140 c. FALLS New Zealand Price Var’n
Broadlands was unchanged by the report of the profit increase which did little more than maintain the earning rate of average shareholders’ funds. Tasman continued to advance, gaining 5c at 310 c, making a rise of 15c so far this week. However, Forest was down 1c at 330 c and the rights sold 1c lower at 114 c. i Carter Holt moved higher, and Henderson Pollard gained ■ 5c at 230 c. RISES
