Accused plead guilty
Two accused who had elected trial by jury pleaded guilty on arraignment before Mr Justice Haslam in the Supreme Court yesterday. Alanah Christine Nicholls, aged 21, a factory hand, pleaded guilty to a charge that on September 14 she stole 35 diamond rings valued at $4407.20, the property of W. Ruddiman, Ltd.
Nicholls, who was represented by Mr L. G. Holder was remanded in custody to a date to be fixed for sentence.
John Stuart Weir Pegg, aged 56, a footwear operator, pleaded guilty to a charge of doing an indecent act on a male on July 26.
Pegg, who was represented by Mr I. J. B. Hall, was remanded in custody to a date to be fixed for sentence.
