G. Edge on Ansin
(N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. The New Zealand jockey, G. R. Edge, will ride Ansin, not Pole Star, in next Tuesday’s $103,000 Melbourne Cup, the trainer of the two horses. J. Winder, said yesterday. Winder said that another New Zealand jockey, R. J. Skelton, would ride Pole Star. Ansin, now rated a 10/1 chance for the cup. became Edge’s pick after his promising sixth in last Saturday’s Moonee Valley Cup, over 2400 metres. t Ansin and Pole Star will conclude their Melbourne Cup preparations on Saturday in the L. K. S. Mackinnon Stakes, of 2000 metres, and the Hotham Handicap, of 2400 metres, respectively.
