Fighting continues
(N.Z.PA.-Reuter—Copyright) SAIGON, Nov. 1. Military action in Vietnam continued at a high level today, 124 Communist attacks being reported in the 24 hours ending at dawn.
Five militiamen were killed yesterday, and 25 were wounded, when a stadium in central South Vietnam was rocked by several unexplained explosions; and in an incident early this morning, three persons were killed and seven were wounded when two I Communist rockets hit a South Vietnamese officers’ training school only five miles from the capital.
In Da Nang today, leaflets were distributed, calling on the South Vietnamese to “exterminate the Communists before, during, and after a cease-fire.”
The Mayor of Da Nang (Colonel Nguyen Hgoc Khoi) gave a warning that even after a cease-fire, anyone displaying Viet Cong flags, or showing Communist sympathies, would be quickly arrested "and dealt with.” "Silence the henchmen who spread false rumours; inform on defectors, robbers and hooligans; support the Army, police and People’s Militia; and exterminate the Communists to save the country,” the leaflets said.
