SITUATION AT 8 P.M. A slow-moving anticyclone lies to the north-east of New Zealand and there is an increasing north-west flow over the South Island; a weak warm front is moving south over central New Zealand. FORECASTS: MARLBOROUGH. — North-westerlies fresh in many places; fine and warm; high cloud. NELSON.—Winds fresh in many parts; low cloud and mist morning and night, but mainly sunny in the afternoon; mild. BULLER and WESTLAND.—Moderate westerlies in the afternoon, otherwise little wind; fine and mild but cloud increasing. CANTERBURY and KAIKOURA COAST.—Moderate north-east coastal winds but north-westerlies freshening inland; partly cloudy and mild. OUTLOOK.—CIoudy; scattered rain in Buller and Westland.
