Boulder Lake, in the Tasman Mountains on the east side of the Aorere River, which flows into Golden Bay. The lake, 1½ miles long and at an altitude of 3500 feet, is the most northerly glacial-formed lake in New Zealand. The mountains behind the beech tree are known as Hills.
