Fijians to help with tobacco
(N.Z. Press Association) NELSON, Oct. 31. The Minister of Labour (Mr Thomson) has advised the chairman of the Tobacco Growers’ Federation labour committee (Mr G. H. Hunt) that up to 150 Fijian labourers will be admitted to the country to assist with this season’s tobacco harvest. This is half the number allowed in last season. Some were native Fijians and others were Fijian Indians. Growers who wished for the labour must arrange to fly the Fijians to New Zealand, Mr Thomson said.
