First group of Asians
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Oct. 31
The first group of Ugandan immigrants brought to New Zealand under Government auspices was expected in Wellington on Tuesday, said the Minister of Immigration (Mr Thomson) today. The party would consist of four adults and two children. Although the first to reach this country under the Government scheme, they would not be the first displaced Ugandan refugees to reach New Zealand, Mr Thomson said. On Sunday, a barrister, Mr Avinash Ganesh Deobhakta, aged 36, would arrive at Auckland with his wife and two children. He was being privately sponsored by an Auckland legal firm.
