Cardiff selection INJURIES ON THE MEND
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.)
LLANELLI.
The All Blacks’ injured players are on the mend, and it is hoped that T. J. Morris and S. M. Going will be fit enough to be considered for selection in the team to play Cardiff on Saturday.
Morris has had shin soreness on his kicking leg, as well as calf muscle trouble on his left leg, but these injuries, and Going’s twisted ankle, are responding to treatment.
The left wing, G. R. Shudder, is slowly jogging back to recovery after a groin injury, and A. J. Wyllie, troubled by a strained hamstring, is now almost fit K. K. Lambert is suffering from boils on a leg, and K. W. Stewart, who sustained a gashed ear in the early stages of the New York match, has now reached the stage where he could play at a pinch. However, the coach, Mr R. H. Duff, is giving all of them ample recovery time before pressing them into service.
Two successful members of the Lions team in New Zealand last year will play for Cardiff against the All Blacks on Saturday. They are G. O. Edwards, the muscular scrum-half, and J. C. Bevan, the wiry' wing who scored a
record-equalling 17 tries on the tour. Both have been in the wars recently. Edwards suffered a blow on the jaw last week and Bevan dislocated a shoulder six weeks ago. But both were in action for Cardiff against Pontypool last Saturday and they scored a try apiece. It was Bevan’s first game since he was injured, and his try was his twenty-fifth in 27 appearances for the club. I The Cardiff side is: J. Davies; W. Lewis, N. Williams, A. Finlayson, Bevan; K. James, Edwards; C. Smith; M. John (captain), I. Robinson, L. Baxter, R. Lane; M. Knill, G. Davies, R. Beard.
