Victory for Mr Henry
(Special Crspdt. N Z P A.) RAROTONGA (Cook Islands), Oct. 31. i The Cook Islands Party of! the Premier (Mr Albert I Henry) received a resounding : vote of confidence in! local body elections when i it made a clean sweep of all the island and district coun- i cil seats in Rarotonga. Constituencies were the same as for the General Election, and interest centred on Teauotonga, where Dr R. Davis gained one seat from the Cook Islands Party in the General Election. The poll showed a definite swing to the Government, indicating that in the General Election Dr Davis entered the assembly on the votes of expatriate airport workers. Most of these workers have returned to New Zea- - land and the polling booth in the area, which gave a big lead to all Dr Davis’s candidates in April, instead, gave an overwhelming lead! to all Cook Islands Partyi candidates.
