Marylands report
The Cabinet will probably consider the special report on the Marylands home on Monday. A sub-committee of six officials representing the Health, Education, and Social Welfare departments is now preparing the report from information supplied by Government accountants, architects and school inspectors who have visited the St John of God Brothers home for retarded boys over the last week. The Prior of Marylands (Brother R. Moloney) and the order’s accountant (Mr J. Byron) who flew from Australia at the beginning of the week, met the sub-committee in Wellington yesterday. They also met the Minister of Health (Mr AdamsSchneider). Brother Moloney said last evening he had been told that the Cabinet would probably consider the question of Marylands next Monday morning and possibly would announce a decision on aid to the home after that.
