TEMPORARY HALT
(N.Z. Press Association)
. LEVIN, Oct. 30. Tactical planning for the General Election was temporarily halted on Saturday by the Minister of Defence (Mr McCready) who is the member of Parliament for Otaki, and National candidate for Manawatu.
Mr McCready was in a meeting with his campaign committee at Levin when the Hamilton Lions Club telephoned to say it had collected enough clothes for 4000 people. Could he please get them to Fiji? A couple of calls to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Sir Keith Holyoake) and the Royal New Zealand Air Force, soon had a Bristol Freighter arranged to carry the relief supplies.
