(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 30. Mr J. H. Weir has been appointed High Commissioner for New Zealand in Malaysia. Mr Weir, who is an assistant secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, will replace Mr R. L. Hutchens, who is returning to Wellington. Aged 50, Mr Weir joined the Ministry in 1947 and has held a series of senior appointments, including that of High Commissioner for New Zealand in Singapore from 1966 to 1970. He has also served in Washington, Canberra, Ottawa, and New York.
