GUARD ON SHIP
Precaution by Germans (N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Oct. 30. German ships visiting New Zealand are still taking precautions against possible terrorist actions. Two crewmen guard the gangway of the container vessel Columbus New Zealand round the clock while she is in Port Chalmbers. Normally there is only one ship-board guard. Security aboard all German ships was tightened after the terrorist attack at Munich. Captain H. A. Schaade, master of the Columbus New Zealand, said today that although he believed German ships were safe in New Zealand ports, his instructions were to strengthen the guard in every country. “I have no idea how long this will continue but we have been told to be careful at all times,” he said. The 19,146-ton Columbus New Zealand arrived from Sydney yesterday.
