Talks on oil refinery
(N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, Oct. 30. Talks between Government officials and representatives of the oil company participants in the New Zealand Refining Company took place last week in Wellington and would continue tomorrow, said the Prime Minister (Mr Marshall) in Whangarei today. The aim of the discussions is to come to a quick decision on the expansion of the oil refinery at Marsden Point. There are some differences at this stage between the Government and company representatives as to which type of expansion would be in New Zealand’s best longterm interests. “I am confident that there will be an early resolution of these differences,” said Mr Marshall.
