Ballot for sections
A ballot will be necessary to sort out applicants for the 11 sections in the “Bumside High School subdivision” in Memorial Avenue.
Sufficient prospective buyers have applied to ensure that all sections are sold, but in some instances several applicants have given a first preference for the same section.
The sections, fronting Memorial Avenue between Greers and Grahams roads, range in area from 24.2 to 27.5 perches, and in price from $7BOO to $B4OO. The sale of the land, which has been opposed by the school authorities and the Waimairi County Council, will realise $88,450.
Successful applicants will be able to buy the sections on deferred payment over a 25-year term. Minimum deposits are from $2600 to $2900, and the balance will be paid off at a rate of about $8 a week. The ballot will be conducted by the Lands and Survey Department which is handling the sale of the Crown land.
